Rabbit Vaccination Guide for NT Owners
Pet HealthBy Dr Rebecca Webster

Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is present in Australia and generally causes sudden death in rabbits. Two strains — RHDV1 and RHDV2 — are highly contagious and can be spread by direct contact, contaminated equipment, or insects.

The Filavac® vaccine protects rabbits against both RHDV1 and RHDV2. A single dose is effective and can be given from 10 weeks of age, with annual boosters required to maintain protection.

At Wild North, rabbit vaccinations include a total wellness examination and dental check. This ensures we’re not just vaccinating but also monitoring your rabbit’s overall health.

Desexing is another important consideration for pet rabbits. It reduces territorial aggression, prevents unwanted pregnancies, and protects against reproductive diseases such as mammary cancers and uterine infections.

Call Wild North on 08 7926 8909 to book your rabbit’s vaccination and health check.
